Garden Route Memory Care
Proposed New Memory Care Facility
The Blue Mountain Retirement Community’s Board of Directors has approved a plan to meet the growing need for Alzheimer’s and Dementia care in the Garden Route region by building a new Memory Care Facility. This initiative aims to create a safe and supportive environment for individuals with cognitive challenges. It demonstrates the community’s commitment to offering quality care services in George and the surrounding area.
This project focuses on a compassionate care approach. It emphasizes personalized care, engaging activities to improve cognitive skills, and prioritizing safety and comfort through thoughtful design. The facility will also support the families of its residents.
The new project involves redesigning an existing building adjacent to the current facility to accommodate an additional 25-bed Memory Care Facility. The building consists of two floors with a total GLA of 649 m², with the care facility on the ground floor and the service delivery center on the 1st floor. This layout fosters a close-knit environment with a dedicated care team and integrates smoothly with the existing retirement community services.
The project has received initial approval and is now in the planning and design stage. The community will be informed about the renovation timeline once this phase is complete. Families interested in the project are encouraged to express their interest to receive updates on its progress, including final plans and future developments.
